The prominent die break on the reverse -which ultimately led to the limited numbers of coins of this type- is already clearly visible here running between the digits 8 and 4 in the date. On most known examples, the break appears further to the right, typically reaching only as far as the second 4. This suggests that our piece was struck toward the very end of the die’s lifespan, just before it became unusable.
